Kent News - Man jailed in relation to £53m Securitas robbery: "money launderer has been sent to prison in relation to the infamous 2006 Securitas robbery.

Ian Bowrem, 46, of Ottery in Devon, was sentenced to three years and nine months in jail for concealing criminal property involved in the £53m Tonbridge raid.

Maidstone Crown Court heard how on Friday, June 23 in 2006, Bowrem was seen outside a pub near Chertsey in Surrey talking to another man.

Officers then stopped Bowrems car on the M25 between junction 13 and 14. His Mercedes was searched and approximately £1m in cash was found in the boot of the vehicle.

During police interview Bowrem stated that the money had been part of a legitimate transaction in relation to a house he was selling in Spain.

He also said he did not know the identity of the buyer as the purchaser was represented by a company in Switzerland."
