David William Baxendale, a 39 year old British man, has been arrested for murder after being indentified in Fuengirola by one of his tattoos.

The Interpol website says the man is accused of killing a 38 year mother of three, Sarah Thomas, in her home in Surrey, England last May 10, and that his arrest came in the early hours of Monday morning. Spanish, French and British police were involved in the operation and Baxendale is now awaiting extradition back to the U.K.

His arrest comes after a programme on the BBC about British fugitives which said that he had boarded a boat for France on May 11. It mentioned his tattoos of a dragon on the right arm and a scorpion on the left side of his chest, and it was thanks to the tattoos that a British person recognised him last Sunday on the Paseo Marítimo in Fuengirola and informed the local police.
